At The Academy of Hockey at Lysander, we are dedicated to improving on ice and off ice skills, enhancing overall hockey ability through professional coaching and guidance. New to The Academy is the addition of Spring/Summer ‘AAA’ Teams for 2009’-1999’ Birth Year levels called The Empire Statesmen. Players will be selected to join Statesmen Team Development Camps through a series of Evaluation sessions. Players selected for the Team Development Camps may then be picked to play in ‘AAA’ Tournaments throughout the Spring/Summer. Our Staff is comprised of Instructors with experience coaching and playing at the NCAA, Junior, and Prep levels, ensuring high level instruction while focusing on player development.
THE PROGRAM
Player’s selected to join the Empire Statesmen will be run through (2) Team Camp training sessions instructed by members of our coaching staff. Each Team Camp will be composed of 2.5 hours on ice and 1 hour off ice. These camps will be high tempo and geared toward enhancing player development. Not only will players get top level instruction, but they will build relationships necessary for moving on to higher levels of hockey. Players picked to join the Empire Statesmen must commit to joining these team camp training sessions.
TOURNAMENTS
Players that are selected to join the team training camps will have the option to go to tournaments. We would like to select the players going to the tournaments from the players that make the Statesmen Team Training Camp program, however if we cannot fill the numbers necessary to go from within, we may have to branch out and have players elsewhere to join our tournament roster. Our first tournament for all age groups will be the Nike Bauer Challenge April 27th -29th in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
WHAT’S HAPPENS NEXT?
1) There will be a series of evaluation sessions throughout the month for players to showcase their skills to members of the coaching staff, please check the website for dates and times. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE ONE OF THE EVALUATION SESSIONS, PLEASE STILL APPLY AND A MEMBER OF OUR STAFF WILL COME OUT TO A GAME OR PRACTICE.
2) Players will be emailed whether or not they have made their specific age group Empire Statesmen Team.
3) Players that make the team will be emailed a team registration form that must be completed and sent in along with payment. This form will give you the option to check off any tournaments that you may be interested in.
4) The cost of the Empire Statesmen Team Training Program is $199. This includes (2) Team Training Camps, jersey, and socks.
5) Any tournament a player is selected for will be an additional cost which will be split equally among the players attending. Parents are responsible for hotel and travel as well.
6) Players that do not make a Statesmen team will be sent other program options. Every kid should have an option to train on the ice regardless if they make a team or not.
7) Relax, this should be fun. There should be no stressed involved in this. If a player does not make a team, we will be offering other options for them to get high level instruction.
